Afterwards I did my Basic Surgical Training with the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. In 2009 I did a Masters In Surgery, with my research dissertation based on Cadaveric Lab Work in RCSI.
My Registrar training in Trauma and Orthopaedics led me to Hospitals all around Ireland. Starting 2008-2009 I worked in Cork. This was followed by AMNCH Tallaght Hospital. From 2010 to 2017 I worked in major elective and trauma centres in Limerick, Galway, Drogheda and Dublin. My final Senior Registrar year was spent in Beaumont University Hospital in Dublin.
I had the opportunity to visit several countries in Europe as part of attendance at Courses and Conferences. Hence I visited cold and rainy Glasgow in Scotland for Care of Critically Ill Surgical Patient Course in 2007.
In 2010 I did the Core Skills in Operative Orthopaedics Course in Cardiff, Wales, and had to return to Ireland by ferry since all flights were cancelled due to the Iceland Volcanic Ash episode. In June 2011, i visited Copenhagen, Denmark, for the Comprehensive Orthopaedic Review course. In Dec 2012, I first travelled to Davos in Switzerland for the AO Advances in Operative Fracture Management course. I returned to Davos twice in 2013 for the 3rd International Knee Update Course and also the AO Trauma Fragility Fractures Course. In October 2012, I had a chance to visit Strasbourg, France for an Advanced Arthroscopy Course of the Knee and Shoulder.
My Orthopaedic Exam Course also took me to Oxford and Oswestry in UK, and to sunny Faro in the Algarve, Portugal. In 2015 I had the opportunity to participate in the Advanced Shoulder Surgery for Sports Injuries Course, Dublin, with my mentor Hannan Mullett. For 2 consecutive years, 2016 and 2017, I participated in the Advanced Course of the Shoulder and Elbow in Utrecht, Netherlands. In 2017 I also did the Train the Orthopaedic Trainer course, organised by the British Orthopaedic Association. In 2018, courses and conferences took me to Nice in France, Geneva in Switzerland and Hanover in Germany. In September 2019, a few months before the COVID pandemic, I travelled to Buenos Aires in Argentina to present my research work on Clavicle Fractures.
In July 2019, I started working at Clinique Darné in Mauritius. Here i perform elective surgery in my areas of expertise, that is Total Hip Replacement, Total Knee Replacement, Revision Arthroplasty and all areas of shoulder surgery such as Shoulder Arthroscopy Rotator Cuff repair, the Latarjet Operation and Reverse Shoulder Replacement. I routinely treat athletes needing surgery for Knee ACL/ MCL/ meniscus injuries. My skills and knowledge gained in treating various Orthopaedic Trauma in Ireland serve me well in dealing with complex Upper and Lower Limb Fractures here in Mauritius.
